Electric Pole & Conductor Replacement in Thornton Steward

The Parish Meeting has received notification of the following plans. Click on the links to display further information on how this may affect residents and come along to the Parish Meeting on Wednesday 12 December at 7:30pm with any queries or comments for passing on to Northern Powergrid.

(Maureen Ayre is going to inform Ann Smith, the Conservation Officer, in case she can support any reduction in the 'wirescape' of the village. They will consider re-routing wires underground in National Parks/AONB but not usually elsewhere. However, they will consider individuals paying for the excavation costs to have wires re-routed underground on their property. They also might be able to move a pole a metre or so.)

Northern Powergrid plan to replace all the low voltage overhead conductors and some of the wooden poles in the village of Thornton Steward. (Click here to see plan.)

The proposed scheme is to replace the open wire overhead conductors with a single aerial bunched conductor.
(
Click here to see photo illustrating the two types.)

The poles will be replaced in the same location with a like for like wooden pole, the planned work is due to take place next year.

I would appreciate any comments from your parish and I am available for a site meeting if you require one.

Kind regards

Mark Percival
